sunday in the apartment & I wrote some words for her drawings.
Drawings by Elizabeth Leavitt. -
the new astrology
vintage floral wallpaper pasted on canvas, and in the color of blue if it was in powder form. traditional book binding substituted by ivory pointelle fabric, appearing delicate, and at times falling apart, but none-the-less committed. insert an article about cosmic man. i hope it will answer a question you've been afraid to ask. using a 1930's Royal typewriter, a title, to determine its worth in time: the new astrology. -
mass book
cover ingredients: sea green book board, coral colored thread, and gilded crosses. inside: ripped-out hymns & prayers. my poems sing the songs of the missing pages. they are sewn in between blank sheets to encourage new forms of worship. -
a student's text-book of astrology
stolen hardcover. the binding cut from a floral shirt i no longer wore. pages borrowed from a vintage astrology magazine. horoscopes dated 1972. binder pages lined vertically. some blank. all of it a channeled mess of glue & discordant sheets of paper destined to be together. -
birds
it begins: blank canvas boards. bird paper. yellow inside for good luck. hand-cut blank pages. hemp thread pulled through beeswax. some sewing. a break. a knot. a borrowed button. beads from a broken necklace bought at an oakland psychic shop. they were blessed for love. -
ouija
original glow-in-the-dark parker brothers ouija board. painted purple. then there was the wait. weeks of meditation. the happening: an impulsive writing of the alphabet. scribble a sun. a capsized moon. oh wait, you messed up. make a it a full moon. they're more magic anyway.
