The Aimless Archer

The world was free to roam. The Archer knew this & would shoot his arrow into the distance & then journey toward it. One day as he came upon his arrow, he saw that he had shot a woman. The woman was alive but in mild pain, so he removed the arrow & decided he would stay with her for some time. The Archer & the woman grew to love each other & every thing was happy.

But one day when he thought the woman was not looking, the Archer picked up his bow and arrow and shot far into the distance.

The woman saw him do this and asked, "Why did you shoot your bow and arrow?".

"Because it is my instinct to wander," the Archer said, "and now I must go find it."

The woman began to cry. & the Archer, in an attempt to comfort her said "Don't worry, I will shoot my arrow in your direction again."

"Please don't ever shoot your arrow over here again," said the woman, "it is much too painful."

The Archer promised that he would try not hit her with the arrow next time.

"It's not the pain of the arrow I am afraid of. It is the pain of your wanderlust. Please go now & never return."

The Archer, finally understanding what the woman meant, started walking in search of his arrow. When he found it, he looked back in the direction of the woman and for the first time, he realized that because of his actions, there are some places he was not allowed to go, even if he missed it a whole bunch.
